In 1898, missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints arrived in Osceola County. No one might have predicted then that such a remote area would be a thriving area of the Church, but today, more than 120 years later, it has become its own stake in Zion. Eight congregations totaling more than 3,000 members span the area. Some members’ families have lived here for generations; others are transplants; still others are new converts drawn to the truth they find. Members of the St. Cloud Florida Stake have different languages, cultures, talents, gifts and stories, but all desire to be true disciples of Jesus Christ–and stories of earnest, effortful discipleship are worth sharing.
The purpose of this blog is twofold: first, to keep a record of the history of the Restored Church in Osceola County, as commanded by the Lord to all members: “It shall be appointed unto [you] to keep [a] church record and history continually” (D&C 47:3). Although such stories may seem ordinary now, we know that they will be precious to the generations that follow us. And second, to be a light and to share light. With all the negative content that is available, it is crucial for us to share everyday stories of goodness and to lift, encourage, inspire, and comfort. We humbly hope that our posts and spotlights will do that.
While the intentions for this blog are sincere and seek to thoughtfully communicate gospel principles, this blog is not sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and should not be seen as representing official Church doctrine.
